Pyecombe 4 day Show
The Light Family had a fabulous 4 day show from 20th to 23rd April. I only competed on Friday and Sunday as I had a meeting in Newmarket on Thursday and part of Anna's Hen Weekend on Saturday. All three horses jumped well on Friday. Catokyo just had a pole in the Foxhunter, but jumped very well and Benny and Emma both jumped clear in the 1.30.
On Saturday I got up early and rode Emma before driving to West Wittering Beach with a picnic to join Sophie, Anna and Anna's hens. Sophie, with help from Anna's bridesmaids Alice and Eliza, had organised the most lovely weekend for them all in a house at West Wittering. Gill (Tom's mother) and I just joined them for their picnic. I had forgotten what a beautiful beach West Wittering is. We had the standard Lewis picnic, remembered by Anna's friends from point-to-points and speech days, of sausages, quiche and delicious salted caramel brownies cooked by Sophie. It was lovely to see Anna's lovely friends, I have known some of them since they were 11 and the others since sixth form and university and they are all great girls and gave Anna such a lovely weekend.
I quickly rode Benny and Catokyo when I got home. All ready for Pyecombe again!
Sunday saw me back at Pyecombe. Catokyo jumped well in the Foxhunter and Benny also jumped well in the 1.30 and I then jumped Emma in the 1.40. She jumped like an absolute superstar for a double clear. What an amazing little horse she is - she tries her heart out for me every time we go in the ring.
Many thanks to Steff as always for all her help, videoing, and not minding the late finishes, and to the Light family for hosting such excellent shows at their lovely facility. We are so lucky to be able to jump a full range of classes, up to 1.50 at this show, so close to home.
