Holidays are Over

We've had a quiet few weeks with Khalissy and Askeaton both having a holiday, so Mark and I took the chance to spend a week in Bermuda, which was absolutely wonderful, and we had a few days in Portugal with friends on Mark's biennial tennis tour. It was definitely quite a shock to the system to be back in Askeaton's saddle on Tuesday morning. She's one that needs a quick rodeo on the lunge before you would want to be sitting on top, but she was very good on her first hack. In the afternoon I collected BE Khalissy from her big field on Ashdown Forest, dropped Ludger back to Trevor Breen and collected Doonaveeragh Emma and Zarnita from Breen Equestrian for their well deserved winter TLC. Like a huge equine school run!

Khalissy was back to work on Wednesday morning, clearly quite a shock to her as she found a short hack quite exhausting! We keep them woolly until they need to go in the school as this stops them being too silly as they come back to work.

I took Billy Arietta to Felbridge on Saturday, whiere she jumped another lovely double clear to complete her Newcomers double clears for 2022. I am thrilled with her, and she couldn't have arrived at a better time, and our partnership is beginning to build quickly now. It's always nice to be out and about after a break and see some friends. It's been great watching Heidi doing so well with Michelle, and Kvint has had some very good successes in Oliva Nova, Spain with Kate as well.

I am still struggling with my knee, I have at least had some physio now, and am icing and lasering it as much as I can to speed up the healing process. It's definitely getting much stronger with some exercises for the ligaments, but it is slow and painful.

It's fun having all the horses back in work, and we can get fitter together. The aim is to get to a few stay away shows after Christmas and then head down to Spain for the Sunshine Tour in March.
