Science Supplements AEJC September Tour Week 1 - 2021

It's exciting to be at Hickstead for their two week Autumn Tour and we've been lucky enough to be stabling at Breen Equestrian which has made it a much easier experience for both me and the horses. Both horses have had a few quiet weeks since their last show and felt a little bit ring rusty the first day. Askeaton jumped a good round in the 1.20 on Wednesday for the last pole in the jump off, and Khalissy felt a little bit rusty in the Newcomers and had a very big spook at the spectators sitting on the grass. It's easy to forget that she has hardly ever seen a spectator having been entirely produced during the pandemic. On Thursday Askeaton jumped another good round in the 1.20, and Khalissy jumped very well on the grass in ring 2, feeling much more like her normal keen self. On Friday Askeaton got the day off to a good start with a good placing in the 1.20, just missing out on main ring qualification, and Khalissy jumped an excellent round in a red hot Newcomers qualification. After a quiet weekend, and some field time for the horses we will be back at Hickstead from Tuesday, with the horses both stepping up. Askeaton to the 1.30's and Khalissy to the 1.20's and Six year old classes.
